This page provides a list of possible causes and resolutions for potential installation issues.

SymptomPossible Causes / Resolutions
The DVD installer menu does not appear
  • The DVD has not been burnt correctly; download the ISO again, and burn to a different DVD.
  • The DVD drive in the server is not functional.
  • The hardware does not meet Flexiant Cloud Orchestrator's hardware requirements. It is possible to tailor an installation of Flexiant Cloud Orchestrator to a non-standard hardware configuration. For more information, see Alternate Installation Methods.
The DVD installer hangs or errors after you select the installation type from the menu
  • The hardware does not meet Flexiant Cloud Orchestrator's hardware requirements. It is possible to tailor an installation of Flexiant Cloud Orchestrator to a non-standard hardware configuration. For more information, see Alternate Installation Methods.
The installer fails to detect the network
  • Your eth0 device is not properly connected to your network.
  • Your network is not offering DHCP (note that IP addresses can be manually configured).
The installer fails to install the operating system to the hard disk
  • The hardware does not meet Flexiant Cloud Orchestrator's hardware requirements. It is possible to tailor an installation of Flexiant Cloud Orchestrator to a non-standard hardware configuration. For more information, see Alternate Installation Methods.
  • Your hard disk does not present to the operating system as /dev/sda. This can be resolved by performing an expert mode installation.
The installer fails to contact the licence server
  • Your eth0 device is not properly connected to the network. Possibly it has local connectivity, but not internet connectivity.
  • There is a firewall preventing the server from contacting port 443 of our licensing server.
Your username and password for the licence server are not accepted
  • You have mis-typed the username or password. Try logging into our web site to ensure they are right.
  • There is a problem with your account on our licensing server. Contact Flexiant support.
You are not given a choice of licences to install though you expected one
  • Our support team have not added a licence to your account. This may be because we have not received a contract or payment from you. Contact our support team.
You are not given a choice of hypervisor to install, or the choice does not contain the hypervisor you wish to install
  • The licence you selected does not permit you to use the hypervisor concerned. Please contact our support team.
The machine does not reboot correctly after the install completes
  • The hardware does not meet Flexiant Cloud Orchestrator's hardware requirements. It is possible to tailor an installation of Flexiant Cloud Orchestrator to a non-standard hardware configuration. For more information, see Alternate Installation Methods.
Flexiant Cloud Orchestrator does not start successfully on a reboot
  • Internet connectivity from the server is not functional. Log in (using username root and the password you specified above), and type "ip addr show". Ensure the STATE entry for interfaces eth0 and eth1 is up. Check connectivity to your default route. Ensure DNS resolution works. Correct the problem and reboot.
  • The hardware does not meet Flexiant Cloud Orchestrator's hardware requirements. If the software has installed successfully, you can turn on remote support (see our Remote Support page) and contact our support team.
I have fixed a problem during install, but the services are still not starting
  • Try rebuilding the configuration using the build-config command. For more information, see Rebuilding Config.
  • If that succeeds, but the services still do not start, try rebooting the server.
I selected the wrong hypervisor or licence
  • Either reinstall the software (this is easiest if you have not made any significant changes), or contact support.
